St Arnaud is a rather large house built by a rather lucky gold miner (from St Arnaud - it's north Victoria in 'dem der hills) in the late 1800's with over fifty rooms all individually furnished creating a homely atmosphere that well... well... everyone comments" it's like staying at grandma's house."
We have a fantastic location close to the city (5 mins on the tram) and smack bang next to the Botanical Gardens, in the very chic and trendy suberb of South Yarra. Affectionately known as 'The Tan', the area boasts some of Melbourne's finest restaurants and attractions that are all within easy walking distance from St Arnaud. And you're bound to run into some famous before long.
So, you take the tram from outside our from door and Melbourne's yer lobster. City five minutes - Lygon Street (Italy, Melbourne Style), shopping, drinking. Chapel Street - cafes, shopping, clubs, bars, late nights, fast food... five minutes. St Kilda - all of the above plus sand (it's the beach)... five minutes, Bridge Rd - discount shopping 'til you canny take no more - 10 minutes. Basically, getting around is a doddle and you just gotta take the tram - Ding! Ding!
Morning comes, brekky's out from 7am so if you wanna go for a jog around 'The Tan' before you hit the streets, tourist style, you can grab a paper on yer way back and tuck in to our large selection of cereals, toast, juice and espresso coffee and tea. But if all that sounds a bit too early/healthy for you, brekky's out 'til 11am or you can go right ahead and take advantage of our fully equipped kitchen and get the bacon and eggs on....ummmm!
And sporting events... with the MCG, olympic swimming, Grand prix, rodlaver arena, all within a km as the crow flies you are only a short stroll away from the GP, Australian Open Tennis, Aussie Rules footy, The Ashes (come on the pommies), Swimming championships plus the Flemmington all famous all fun Melbourne Cup...
