Q. What time is check-in/Check-out?
A. Check-in is Midday and Check-out is 10am - You are welcome to arrive from 8AM onwards and leave your bags until your room is ready. And you are very welcome to leave your bags with us on the day of departure until you are ready for your onward journey.
Q. What do you provide with the
room?
A. We provide a clean, comfortable
bed with all bedding, fresh linen and daily fresh towels. All rooms have a
colour TV with good picture, a fridge, a kettle, a heater
when required and a wardrobe and dressing table.
Q. How far is the city and is
there good public transport?
A. The city is 5 minutes on the
tram which runs regularly past our door until about 1 am.
A taxi will only cost about $5-8 dollars if you miss the
last tram!! You could even walk through the botanical gardens
and along the river which takes upwards of about 20 minutes
being such a beautiful walk on a summers day. There are
major train stations nearby (South Yarra, Flinders Street)
and the trams are easy to use and frequent. You can get
around very easily from St Arnaud.
Q. What's the best way to get to St Arnaud from the airport?
A. The Jetbus now operates a direct service to our door between 6AM and midnight for $15 one way or $24 return. Family tickets start from $21 for 1 adult and upto four children. Click here to book your pick-up or see www.starnaudguesthouse.com/location.html for more details about how to get here.
Q. Your rates are so good, are
the rooms clean/safe?
A. Yes, all rooms are super clean
and safe. We have a large guesthouse building (circa 1900)
in the very affluent area of South Yarra. Rooms are immaculately
kept, self contained and have key access. The building is
fully sprinklered and we have the latest in automated smoke
and fire alarms.
Q. Is there a curfew?
A. No, you have a key to come
and go as you please, 24 hours.
Q. Do you have a kitchen/ provide
breakfast?
A. Yes, we have a fully equipped
kitchen and you are welcome to cater for yourself just as
long as you clean up after yourself. And for breakfast we
provide cereals, bread/toast, preserves, milk, tea and coffee
- you help yourself and clean up after yourself.
Q. Do you have any en-suite rooms?
A. No, none of our rooms have
en-suite but there are plenty of bathrooms with showers
located in the corridors around the building. They are cleaned
daily and we provide you with fresh towels everyday.
Q. Is there any parking available?
A. The local area has 2 hour on-street parking during the hours of 7.30am - 7.30pm Monday to Saturday. On-street parking is free outside of these hours. A 10 minute walk away is Premier Parking that offer 24 hour secure undercover parking for $8.00. They are not open 24 hours but you may leave your car overnight - the carpark is secured & locked after these hours: (Premier Parking -- Macfarlan Street, South Yarra, VIC -- Height Clearance: 2.1 Metres)

Q. Is the local area good for
tourists and is it safe?
A. Yes, there is plenty
to do in the local area (take a look at our location
page) and we are well located in a very vibrant and
affluent part of Melbourne. We're just on the edge of the
city surrounded by the botanical gardens - People often
say what a great location this is.
Q. Do you have internet access?
A. Yes, we have three fast internet
computers with video email, msn messenger, yahoo messenger,
word processing and we'll happily burn your photos/docs
to cd if you'd like. We also have Wireless internet throughout the building!
